Pergamon Museum -The Altar of Zeus

The Altar of Zeus and Athene (180-160 B.C.) from Pergamon in West Turkey. It was one of the Seven Wonders of the ancient world. Archaeologist Carl Humann excavated the enormous altar in the late 19th century and spent about 20 years reconstructing it in Germany.

The museum is named after this most valuable artistic treasure from Pergamon. But there are many more impressive treasures that German archeologists plundered from the ancient world in the 19th century.
